In the Lüdenscheid Loh municipal cemetery, also known as the ‘forest cemetery’ (‘Waldfriedhof Piepersloh’), in the north-eastern corner, there is a burial site for forced labourers. The site is marked by a memorial stone with a metal plaque in Russian and 35 gravestones with the names of the victims that rest here. The majority were citizens of the USSR while six were Polish citizens killed in the Arbeitserziehungslagers Hunswinkel work education camp, or died there as a result of the hard living and working conditions, or died in the Lüdenscheid – Hellersen hospital.
