Friedhof Trompet

Cemetery description

The Friedhof Trompet cemetery in the Rheinhausen district of the city of Duisburg contains two war graves burial sections for foreign victims of World War II. In the first, middle, part of the cemetery, marked on the plan as No. 17, the graves of men and women forced labourers and their children can be found. The victims’ names are engraved upon rectangular gravestones. There is also an Orthodox cross with an inscription in German that reads: ‘Here lie foreign forced labourers.’
The other burial section is located at the back of the cemetery, in its eastern part, and bears No. 23. The inscription engraved upon an Orthodox cross mentions Soviet soldiers - prisoners of war. Their names are inscribed upon rectangular gravestones. Among those buried here are at least 2 Polish citizens - Piotr Bogusławski and Jan Stasznik.
Both burial sections are very well maintained and the inscriptions on the gravestones are legible.
