Friedhof Neukirchen

Cemetery description

The Neukirchen Cemetery in Kamp-Lintfort, located in Grotfeldsweg Street, houses 37 graves of men and women forced labourers from Poland and the USSR. Of these, 22 persons worked in the Niederberg mine, and 15 on farms, including 4 women. Their graves can be found in the section situated at the end of the cemetery. The site is marked by stone crosses arranged in three rows, with some personal data inscribed in Cyrillic upon them.
At the time of World War II, 350 forced labourers and Prisoners of War were employed in the area of the whole Neukirchen-Vluyn district. They were made to labour on farms and in industrial plants.
