The war graves in the Bergfriedhof cemetery in Wertheim are located in two burial sections not far from the entrance, at the crossroads of Hospital Street and Hans-Bardon Street. One of them, marked by a red sandstone cross, contains German war graves. The surrounding wall has metal memorial plaques with the names of all those buried here, including foreign citizens.
The graves of foreigners, mostly Polish citizens and Polish children, can be found in the other burial section located on the right side of the entrance. The graves are marked by small stone memorial plaques bearing the names of victims engraved upon the red sandstone. Those buried here were deportees brought to the area of Wertheim to do forced labour, and their children born during the war or right afterwards. The state of preservation of the burial section and the memorial plaques is very good.
