Friedhof Nord Großräschen

Cemetery description

The central part of the New Cemetery in Großräschen holds a collective grave holding the remains of several forced labourers - 14 from Poland and 1 from the USSR. During the war, the victims were employed on local farms. However, there is no information available as to the circumstances of their death. The graves were moved to this northern cemetery from the liquidated southern cemetery. The collective grave is marked by an erratic boulder that bears a memorial plaque with the following inscription: ‘In memory of the victims of the war’ and with the names of the deceased inscribed upon it.
