Marienfriedhof

Cemetery description

Since 1984, the cemetery on Marienkirche Street in Rötha has held the grave of 18 Polish forced labourers who, during World War II, worked in armaments plants in the area. Initially, their last remains were buried in a heap of ashes. In 1984, they were exhumed and moved to this cemetery. The grave is marked by a stone monument that bears the following inscription: ‘In memory of the victims of the 1939-1945 war.’ Nowadays, however, the cemetery has no plaque commemorating the victims as, most probably, it has been taken away for renovation.
