The Eberstädter Friedhof municipal cemetery is located in the southern district of the city of Eberstadt. In its central part, in the section marked with the letter ‘O’, there is quite an extensive burial site containing the graves of German and foreign victims of World War II. Among these buried are 20 Polish citizens. At least two graves (that of a man called Czechowicz and that of a man called Szyszka) were moved to this site in the post-war period.
The gravestones (concrete plinths with bronze plaques containing some personal data) are arranged in four equal rows. The central part of this section is marked by quite a large red granite cross bearing the inscription: ‘1939 - 1945.’
However, in the year 2019, the burial section faced an act of vandalism, as a result of which several gravestones disappeared. Apart from this unfortunate incident, the general state of the section and the memorials is very good.
