In the Pankow XII Cemetery there are almost 1,600 single graves and 1 mass grave of victims of World War I and World War II. Sections with the graves of the victims of World War II Nos. 1 and 3 are located near the entrance to the cemetery, on the left side of the main alley. More than 140 Polish citizens are buried here. The last to have found their final resting place in this cemetery were soldiers who died in various lazarets (field hospitals) until 1946, forced labourers, civilian victims of air bombardments, and members of the anti-aircraft defence. Each grave has a slanting plaque with a victim’s name, the dates of their birth and death, and the time span of World War II.
