The south-western part of the Bad Zwischenahn Evangelical Cemetery holds a large war graves burial section. Almost 150 persons found their final resting place here, above all, German soldiers who died in the local lazarets (field hospitals) or fell at the end of the war. Some of the deceased remain anonymous. The German War Graves Commission (Der Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge e. V.) is in possession of information that between ten and twenty Soviet and Polish prisoners of war are buried here as well. This burial section is marked by two crosses bearing the names of the Polish soldiers, and two other crosses displaying information about an unidentified Polish soldier who was also interred here.
